CAIRO – 10 June 2021: The Supreme Council of Antiquities listed four 19th -century icons from the Monastery of Archangel Gabriel in Fayoum and three Islamic pulpits in Gharbia Governorate, among Islamic, Coptic and Jewish monuments.
Head of the Islamic, Coptic and Jewish Antiquities Sector Osama Talaat explained that this came after the approval of the Board of Directors of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, in accordance with the decision of the Permanent Committee of Islamic, Coptic and Jewish Antiquities.
He pointed out that the icons that were recorded depict a number of religious subjects, including the annunciation and the life of Jesus and the Virgin Mary.
As for the pulpits, they are from El-Adawy Mosque, Al-Maghraby Mosque, and Ibn Ata Allah Al-Iskandar Mosque. All the pulpits are made of wood and consist of a front door and a preacher’s space facing a dome.
