CAIRO – 7 June 2021: On June 6, Egypt’s Minister of Tourism & Antiquities Khaled el-Enani convened with the committee in charge of developing and upgrading tourism services in museums and archaeological sites, headed by Secretary-General for the Supreme Council of Antiquities Mostafa Waziry.

Enani emphasized the importance of revamping tourism services as it has a great effect on the overall experience of visitors.

As a first phase, work will start in 30 museums and archeological sites to improve and raise the efficiency of tourism services provided in them.

These are among the most visited sites and include Al-Muizz Street, the Citadel of Salah El-Din in Cairo, museums in Alexandria, Fayoum, Sohag, Luxor among others.

The development of services includes making museums and archaeological sites accessible to people with special needs; making movement paths more accessible, providing brochures in Braille, and subtitling films in visitor centers with the sign language.

The Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities has developed services in some of its museums and archeological sites in recent years; including the temples of Philae, Kom Ombo, Abu Simbel and Isis in Aswan, the Tel Basta Museum in Sharqia, and the Al-Hawaweesh and Sheikh Hamad in Sohag.
