CAIRO – 2 June 2021: The restoration of the renovated wooden flap of the ablution fountain dome of Sultan Hassan Mosque is will be completed on June 2.

 

 

 

Head of the Islamic, Coptic, and Jewish antiquities sector at the Supreme Council of Antiquities Osama Talat said that restoration work on the part of the flap that fell last Friday is almost completed and will be completed by June 2.

He added that the dome and the mosque are in good condition and that the part that fell is not the original part nor is part of the ablution fountain dome. 

 

 

 

Talaat further explained that it was renovated when the Arab Antiquities Preservation Committee replaced the dilapidated original flap with a new modern one which fell due to factors of age and erosion.
