CAIRO – 2 May 2021: On May 5 at 9:30 p.m., Egypt’s Minister of Culture Inas Abdel Dayem will honor a group of the families of Egypt’s martyrs from the army and the police, at Cairo Opera House’s El-Hanager Cinema.

This comes within a celebration organized by the National Center for Cinema headed by screenwriter Mohamed al-Basousi, during which director Atef Shukry’s documentary film "The Martyr" will be screened. The film sheds light on the stories of martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the homeland.

“The Martyr” is the first of a series of films to be made in the coming period to document the stories of the heroes who sacrificed their lives for Egypt and guarantee its security and stability.

The film also draws close to some human and patriotic aspects in the heroes' lives and how they lived defending the security of the homeland, and in the end they received the greatest honor and the dearest title of a martyr.
