CAIRO – 18 April 2021: After transferring the 22 royal mummies from the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir to their permanent resting place in the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization in Fustat, a group of new artifacts have been placed in Tahrir Museum.

In the place of the transferred mummies, a total of 50 colored coffins are displayed, including two from the recent Saqqara discovery, and others were either displayed on the third floor of the museum or were stored in the basement. It is worth noting that 15 of those coffins are displayed for the first time.

The coffins have received a grant project that began in 2016 that includes documenting, photographing and restoring 626 coffins.
