Egypt’s Economic Court obliges Mohammed Ramadan to pay compensation of LE 6 million to pilot Ashraf Abul-Yusr

CAIRO – 7 April 2021: On April 7, the Economic Court issued its ruling in Case No. 119 for the year 2020, filed by lawyer Magdy Helmy, on behalf of pilot Ashraf Abul-Yusr demanding a compensation of LE 25 million to be paid by Mohammed Ramadan to his client for the moral and material damage Abul-Yusr was exposed to when Ramadan posted a photo of him inside the cockpit of the private jet, of which Abul-Yusr was in-charge.

The court required the artist Mohammed Ramadan to pay a compensation of LE 6 million to the pilot Ashraf Abu Al-Yusr.

The lawsuit stated that the artist Mohammed Ramadan took advantage of Abul-Yusr’s image while flying the plane to promote himself by publishing a video clip for a new song that he called “I Don’t Get Searched in Airports”, which led to severe financial and moral damage to the veteran pilot.

It is noteworthy that the Civil Aviation Authority withdrew pilot Ashraf Abul-Yusr’s license for life for violating safety standards while flying, in addition to revoking his assistant's license for a year.
