CAIRO – 31 March 2021: The Bibliotheca Alexandrina is organizing a conference entitled "Upper Egypt is changing", on April 5, in a Cairo hotel.

“We feel the concerns of Upper Egypt, and we see that Upper Egypt is a source of heritage, and one of the main sources for the value and position of historical Egypt; it is the home of geniuses and great personalities in our history, starting with Abbass Al-Akkad, Taha Hussein, Al-Manfalouti, Al-Maraghi, Abdel Nasser, the families of Ghali, Abdel Nour, and Obaid. Upper Egypt is full of competencies and capabilities,” said Director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina Mostafa El-Feki.

El-Feki added that the Bibliotheca Alexandrina will hold a conference entitled "Upper Egypt Is Changing", to be opened by Minister of Local Development Mahmoud Shaarawi and Minister of Social Solidarity Nevin Kabbaj.

A group of public figures, members of parliament, intellectuals, academics and media professionals, as well as workers in the civil field, will participate in the conference.

El-Feki stressed that the conference comes as part of the library's interest in major development projects undertaken by the Egyptian state in recent years especially in Upper Egypt.

It is noteworthy that the Bibliotheca Alexandrina launched a new initiative to study development efforts to change the Egyptian society. It started with holding the "Egypt Changes" conference in Alexandria in early March 2021.

The library continues to hold a series of conferences that monitors aspects of social and economic change in the Egyptian society.
