‘Carving on Wood’ free symposium to be held in Al-Sennari House on April 1

CAIRO – 29 March 2021: On April 1 at 3 p.m., Al-Sennari House, affiliated to the Cultural Communication Sector at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, is organizing a free symposium under the title "Carving on Wood" inspired by Islamic Arts.

The symposium revolves around the art of woodcarving, its beginnings and uses through the ages, as one of the arts inspired by Islamic arts. It clarifies the position of the art of carving on wood between originality and modernity, and explains the techniques of painting wood engravings, methods of gilding and how to protect wood paints.

The symposium will be accompanied by a workshop to implement what will be explained in a practical way. It aims to teach the participants a hobby and a craft whose capital is simple for those who want to start a small project.
