Egypt, Germany tackle cooperation in electricity, renewable energy field

CAIRO - 4 February 2021: Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mohamed Shaker on Thursday discussed with Director of Germany's KfW Bank Cairo Office Dr. Bernd Siegfried and his accompanying delegation, means of fostering the current and future cooperation between the electricity sector and the German bank.

 
During the meeting, Shaker said the KfW's participation in financing the electricity sector represents its confidence in the sector’s success.
 
The Egyptian electricity and renewable energy sector succeeded in completing many projects and programs in cooperation with the German side, Shaker added.
 
Shaker pointed out to the electricity sector’s strategy to expand the renewable energy projects, as part of which the sector adopted a wide-scale program to encourage the private sector engage in the electricity projects.
 
He highlighted the electricity sector’s efforts to improve and upgrade its services mainly as regards the production and distribution operations.
