EGX ends Tuesday in red for 2nd session in row amid foreign individuals selling

CAIRO – 1 September 2020: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) ended Tuesday in red for the second consecutive session, losing LE 5.2 billion of market capitalization, amid foreign individuals selling.

 

The benchmark EGX30 dipped 1.16 percent, or 132.05 points, to close at 11,233.94 points.

 

The equally weighted index EGX 50 dropped 1.52 percent, or 31 points, to end at 2,013.80 points.

 

The small and mid-cap index EGX 70 declined 0.96 percent, or 17.75 points, to close at 1,830.82 points, and the broader index EGX 100 decreased 1.13 percent, or 31.12 points to 2,732.03 points. 

 

Market capitalization lost around LE 5.2 billion, recording LE 625.69 billion, compared to LE 630.89 billion in Monday’s session.

 

The trading volume reached 852.31 million shares, traded through 42,531 transactions, with a turnover of LE 2.94 billion. 

 

Foreign investors were net sellers at LE 1.4 billion, while Egyptian and Arab investors were net buyers at LE 984.5 million, and LE 415.77 million, respectively. 

 

Egyptian, Arab and foreign individuals were net buyers at LE 840.09 million, LE 21.7 million and LE 30.38 million, respectively.

 

Egyptian and Arab organizations bought at LE 144.42 million, and LE 394.06 million, respectively, while foreign organizations sold at LE 1.43 billion.

 

Assiut Islamic Trading, Sharkia National Food, and El Arabia Engineering Industries were top gainers of the session at 9.46 percent, 8.62 percent and 8.23 percent, respectively. 

 

Meanwhile, the Arab Ceramic CO.- Ceramica Remas, Delta Sugar, and Gulf Canadian Real Estate Investment Co. were top losers of the session by 8.87 percent, 6.94 percent, and 6.50 percent, respectively. 

 

EGX ended Monday’s session in red as: EGX30 dipped 0.60 percent, EGX 50 decreased 0.68 percent, EGX70 dropped 0.64 percent, and EGX 100  declined 0.60 percent.
