Egypt signs $238.2M agreements with multilateral, bilateral development partners for environmental projects

CAIRO – 1 September 2020: Volume of the ongoing agreements with multilateral and bilateral development partners for environmental projects amounting to $ 238.2 million, according to Ministry of International Cooperation.

 

The ministry added, in a statement, Tuesday, that the total value of the agreements is concentrated in 4 projects, with a number of development partners, most notably Italy, the World Bank, the French Development Agency, the European Investment Bank, Germany and the European Union.

 

Minister of International Cooperation, Rania Al-Mashat, held a meeting with Minister of Environment, Yasmine Fouad, and Minister of Local Development, Mahmoud Shaarawy,  at the Ministry's headquarters, to discuss activating the new waste management system.

 

They discussed the transfer of waste into energy, mechanisms and funding sources from international institutions in the best easy terms for them, within the framework of President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi's mandate to activate the system because of its positive impact on improving the environmental, health and living conditions of citizens. .
