EGX ends week in green, market cap. gains LE 1.7B

CAIRO – 27 August 2020: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) ended Thursday session in green, adding LE 1.7 billion to market capitalization, amid Arab buying.

 

The benchmark EGX30 inched up 0.08 percent, or 8.67 points, to close at 11,462.45 points.

 

The equally weighted index EGX 50 hiked 0.57 percent, or 11.54 points, to end at 2,038.93 points.

 

The small and mid-cap index EGX 70 rose 2.01 percent, or 35.81 points, to close at 1,820.16 points, and the broader index EGX 100 climbed 1.50 percent, or 40.47 points to 2,731.76 points. 

 

 

Market capitalization gained around LE 1.7 billion, recording LE 630.52 billion, compared to LE 628.78 billion in Wednesday’s session.

 

The trading volume reached 587.29 million shares, traded through 50,641 transactions, with a turnover of LE 1.53 billion. 

 

Arab investors were net buyers at LE 9.65 million, while Egyptian and foreign investors were net sellers at LE 4.19 million, and LE 5.45 million, respectively. 

 

Foreign individuals were net sellers at LE 3.63 million, while  Egyptian and Arab individuals were net buyers at LE 24.06 million, and LE 26.94 million, respectively.

 

Egyptian, Arab and foreign organizations sold at LE 28.25 million, LE 17.29 million and LE 17.29million, respectively. 

 

Giza General Contracting, Paint & Chemicals Industries (Pachin), and National Housing for Professional Syndicates were top gainers of the session at 15.43 percent, 12.84 percent and 9.95percent, respectively. 

 

Meanwhile, Osool ESB Securities Brokerage, Delta Insurance, and Medical Packaging Company were top losers of the session by 6.46 percent, 5.10 percent, and 4.58 percent, respectively. 

 

EGX ended Wednesday on mixed note as: EGX30 inched down 0.07 percent, while EGX 50 increased 0.64 percent, EGX70 dropped 1.65 percent, and EGX 100  rose 1.32 percent.
