CAIRO – 26 August 2020: Minister of Transport Kamel Al-Wazir expected the arrival of the first train of the Spanish integrated train deal next March.

 

Al-Wazir added in a statement, Wednesday, that the deal had been contracted with the Spanish company Talgo to import six trains, with a value of €157 million, in addition to signing a 6-year maintenance contract with the same company.

 

He pointed out that the current fleet of passenger vehicles is being developed, as 200 regular vehicles are being developed in cooperation with SEMAF factory, and the rehabilitation of 90 Spanish vehicles has been completed in the authority’s workshops in Abu Rady.

 

On Tuesday, Minister of Transport announced the arrival of a new batch of new railway passenger vehicles, totaling 13, to Alexandria Port, as part of a deal to manufacture and supply 1,300 new vehicles.

 

The minister said in a statement, that this deal is the largest deal in the history of Egyptian Railways, which was signed by the Egyptian Railways Authority and the Russian company, Transmach, representing the Russian-Hungarian consortium, worth €1.16 billion.
