CAIRO - 7 July 2020: Trade Minister Neveen Gamea discussed on Tuesday with Electricity Minister Mohamed Shaker mechanisms to activate local product preference law in the government procurement, especially in procurement for projects implemented by the Electricity Ministry and its subsidiaries.


During the meeting, the electricity minister asserted his ministry's keenness on giving preference to local products in the projects implemented by the Ministry, particularly in light of the availability of products of a high degree of quality and excellence.

For her part, the trade minister said that the aim of amending the local product preference law is to contribute to ensuring that the local industry has a fair share in the government procurement and enables it to compete with imported similar products
