CAIRO – 9 June 2020: Minister of Electricity announced Tuesday, during a press conference, that the price of electricity for the domestic sector will be raised by the beginning of July 2020 by 19.1 percent.

The prices that will be applied starting from next July, are:

- First tranche from zero to 50 kilowatts "38 piasters instead of 30 piasters"

- Second tranche from 51 to 100 kilowatts "48 piasters instead of 40 piasters"

- Third tranche from zero to 200 kilowatts "65 piasters instead of 50 piasters"

- Fourth tranche from 201 to 350 kilowatts "96 piasters instead of 82 piasters"

- Fifth tranche from 351 to 650 kilowatts "118 piasters instead of 100 piasters"

- The sixth tranche from 651 to one thousand kilo watts "140 piasters"

- The seventh tranche from zero to less than 1000 kilowatts does not receive support for "118 piasters".

- From zero for more than 1000 "145 piasters"

Egypt extends lifting subsidies on electricity 3 years, raises prices by 19%

CAIRO - 9 June 2020: Minister of Electricity Mohamed Shaker announced Tuesday extending the plan to lift subsidies on electricity to another 3 years, to end in fiscal year 2024/2025 instead of fiscal year 2021/2022, due to the negative repercussions of the coronavirus pandemic.
