EGX ends Monday in green for 2nd consecutive session

CAIRO – 1 June 2020: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) ended Monday’s session in green for second consecutive session, adding LE 999.82 million to market capitalization, amid Arab purchases.

The benchmark EGX30 inched up 0.07 percent, or 7.24 points, to close at 10,227.38 points.

The equally weighted index EGX 50 jumped 0.35 percent, or 5.32 points, to end at 1,520.63 points.

Meanwhile, the small and mid-cap index EGX 70 increased 0.01 percent, or 10.5 points, to close at 1,170.49 points, and the broader index EGX 100 climbed 0.71 percent, or 13.22 points to 1,885.22 points.

Market capitalization gained LE 999.82 million, recording LE 549.69 billion, compared to LE 548.69 billion in Sunday’s session.

The trading volume reached 222.89 million shares, traded through 26,846 transactions, with a turnover of LE 222.89 million.

Arab investors were buyers at LE 30.32 million, while Egyptian and foreign investors were net sellers at LE 23.51 million, and LE 6.81 million, respectively.

Foreign individuals were net sellers at LE 1.43 million, while Egyptian and Arab individuals were net buyers at LE 11.83 million, and LE 43.47 million, respectively.

Egyptian, Arab and foreign organizations sold at LE 35.3 million, LE 12.14 million, and LE 5.38 million, respectively.

Mansourah Poultry, Grand Investment Capital, and Arab Valves Company were top gainers of the session at 10 percent, 9.89 percent and 9.88 percent, respectively.

Meanwhile, Rowad Tourism (Al Rowad), Egyptian for Tourism Resorts, and El Arabia Engineering Industries were top losers of the session by 16.35 percent, 4.47 percent, and 4.17 percent, respectively.

EGX ended Sunday in green as: EGX30 hiked 1.09 percent, EGX 50 jumped 1.63 percent, EGX 70 increased 2.56 percent, and EGX 100 climbed 2.32 percent.

EGX and the Central Bank of Egypt announced Eid Al-Fitr holiday to be five days from Sunday, May 24, till Thursday, May 28.
