Egypt's central bank, EGX announces 5-day holiday for Eid Al-Fitr

CAIRO – 21 May 2019: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) and the Central Bank of Egypt announced Eid Al-Fitr holiday to be five days from Sunday, May 24, till Thursday, May 28.

Eid Al-fitr is a festival of breaking the fast of Ramadan. It is a religious holiday celebrated by Muslims worldwide that marks the end of the month-long dawn-to-sunset fasting of Ramadan.

As Friday and Saturday are the official weekend, trading will be resumed on Sunday, May 31.

EGX ended Wednesday in red as: EGX30 dipped 1.47 percent, or 151.84 points, EGX 50 declined 1.30 percent, EGX 70 decreased 1.04 percent, and the broader index EGX 100 lessened 1.33 percent.
