CAIRO - 23 June 2017: The value of the social protection program package announced by President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi and passed by the parliament in 2017/18 budget estimated at LE 72 billion, Minister of Planning Hala el Said said Friday.

The increase in the package will be financed from the revenues available from the economic reforms such as reducing government subsidies on power and energy, which will be directed to the needy and low income people as part of the government’s endeavor to achieve the social justice.

The minister stressed that the social protection programs were top priority for the government, as the economic reforms aimed at improving the standard of living for citizens, especially the low income ones.
