CAIRO – 14 April 2020: Egypt’s cabinet launched "Ahalina" initiative to support irregular workers overshadowed by the negative effect of novel of COVID-19 (coronavirus) on economy.

Ahalina is a community partnership initiative, issued by the Egyptian government.

The cabinet clarified that Ahalina initiative aims to enhance social protection for individuals and families.

Cabinet spokesperson Nader Saad, stated that this initiative is one of the current efforts to support the lower-income families and the irregular workers affected by the "Covid-19" crisis. “It aims to provide direct financial support to the groups affected by the crisis, through the involvement of the private sector and individuals in solidarity in a time of crisis,” he added.

He pointed out the existence of strict standards and meticulously revised databases for the categories eligible for disbursement.

Saad explained that the "Ahalena" platform will be launched, which allows everyone (companies - individuals) to donate through the website www.Ahalena.gov.eg.

He pointed out that people can donate to the intiative whether through its platform, via bank account number 2030 in Banque Misr or via sending an SMS to the number 2030 from any mobile network, taking into account that this account belongs to the General Takaful Corporation, which is affiliated to the Ministry of Social Solidarity, and that these donations will be allocated only to the irregular work affected From the "Covid-19" crisis.
