CAIRO – 2 March 2020: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) recorded mixed performance during second trading session of March, amid Arab and foreign selling after recording aggressive loss on Sunday as a result of the panic of the spread of coronavirus.

The benchmark EGX 30 rose 0.55 percent, or 67.28 points, to close at 12,289.87 points, and the broader index EGX 100 increased 0.06 percent, or 0.79 points to 1,240.5 points.

On the other hand, the equally weighted index EGX 50 dipped 0.11 percent, or 1.82 points, to end at 1,653.53 points, and the small and mid-cap index EGX 70 lessened 0.55 percent, or 6.22 points, to close at 1,126.07 points.

Market capitalization gained LE 673.45 million, recording LE 635.66 billion, compared to LE 634.98 billion in Sunday’s session.

The trading volume reached 235.39 million shares, traded through 27,562 transactions, with a turnover of LE 959.32 million.

Egyptian investors were net buyers at LE 28.38 million, while Arab and foreign investors were net sellers at LE 19.95 million, and LE 8.44 million, respectively.

Egyptian, Arab and foreign individuals were net buyers at LE 26.11 million, LE 12.97 million, and LE 2.02 million, respectively.

Arab and foreign organizations sold at LE 32.92 million, and LE 10.46 million, respectively, while Egyptian organizations bought at LE 2.28 million.

Egyptian Kuwaiti Holding, Cairo Poultry, and Al Tawfeek Leasing Company-A.T.LEASE top gainers of the session at 7.08 percent, 5.06 percent and 5.03 percent, respectively.

Meanwhile, Sabaa International Company for Pharmaceutical and Chemical, Rubex International for Plastic and Acrylic Manufacturing, and Saudi Egyptian Investment & Finance were top losers of the session by 10 percent, 9.83 percent, and 9.67 percent, respectively.

On Sunday, EGX ended in red, as EGX 30 dropped 6.04 percent, EGX 50 dipped 6.59 percent, EGX 70 lessened 6.37 percent, and EGX 100 decreased 5.44 percent.
