WASHINGTON, Feb 29 (MENA) - Egyptian International Cooperation Minister Rania el Mashat discussed with US congressmen the effectiveness of the US economic aid to Egypt, in light of the Congress decision to allocate $ 125 million worth of grants to Egypt.

They also tackled the congress support for the second stage of Egypt's economic reform program.

This came during a meeting with Republican congressmen Jeffrey Lane Fortenber, Dutch Ruppersberger and Hal Rogers on the sidelines of Mashaat's official visit to Washington.

Mashaat said the visit is aimed at holding meetings with US institutions in order to shed light on the significance of economic partnership in different domains.

The minister, meanwhile, highlighted the time-honored and strategic Egypt-US relations and expressed appreciation of the Egyptian government for the role of the Congress in boosting economic partnership between the two countries.

The republican representatives, for their part, praised the development of Egypt-US relations and underscored the importance of boosting bilateral economic and development relations in the coming period.
