CAIRO – 20 January 2020: President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi is set to meet with the British Prime Minister Boris Johnson to discuss bilateral economic and political cooperation on the sidelines of the UK-Africa investment summit held in London.

President Sisi will also meet Prince William, Duke of Cambridge during the summit.

“The UK responds to the calls of African states when they make clear that they need mutually beneficial partnerships that go beyond aid and attract high-quality investments in order to drive growth and create jobs,” said UK Ambassador to Cairo Sir Geoffrey Adams in a statement.

He expressed his delight that President Sisi is traveling to the United Kingdom to attend the African Investment Summit, adding that “his visit will deepen the strong economic and political relations between the two countries.”

Egyptian President Abdel Fatah al Sisi arrived in the English capital city of London on late Sunday to participate in the three-day UK-Africa investment summit scheduled to kick-off on Monday.

President Abdel Fatah al Sisi was received by some of the members of the Egyptian community in Britain, shortly after leaving the German capital of Berlin where he participated in a summit on troubled Libya.

The UK-Africa investment summit is expected to include around 53 African states and International entities where the British Prime Minister Boris Johnson is expected to partake.

The opening session will consist of speeches by UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson and African leaders. It will be followed by others on sustainable funding, infrastructure, trade and investment in light of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), renewable energy, and growth opportunities.
