CAIRO - 2 January 2019: Finance Minister Mohamed Maait has directed his ministry's officials to take swift action to sell at public auction abandoned goods left by their owners in customs areas at ports for a period exceeding four months.

In a statement released on Thursday, the minister said that owners of goods prohibited to be imported, such as computer screens, insecticides and agriculture pesticides will be given a one-month grace period to re-export them.

If the owners failed to re-export these items, they will have to bear the disposal costs, the minister added.

Those owners could be placed on the "high risk" list, should they did not respond to these instructions, the minister noted.
