CAIRO - 6 September 2019: Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tareq el Molla discussed Friday with Djibouti’s Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Yonis Ali Guedi, currently on a visit to Egypt, joint cooperation and means of transferring Egyptian expertise to Djibouti in the activities of petroleum, natural gas and mineral resources.

The two sides also discussed the possibility of Egyptian petroleum companies’ participation in implementing new projects in Djibouti in the fields of natural gas and logistics in light of their experiences.

Molla said in a statement Friday that cooperation with Djibouti comes within the framework of the Egyptian state’s orientation on bolstering economic ties with African states in the field of petroleum and natural gas.

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, the current chairman of the African Union, supports Cairo’s participation along with African states in achieving development via benefiting from their petroleum resources and providing them with Egyptian experiences and capabilities in the petroleum and gas sector, Molla said.

Meanwhile, the Djiboutian minister reviewed his country’s plans in the coming stage to develop infrastructure in the fields of petroleum and natural gas.

He also welcomed cooperation with the Egyptian petroleum sector and benefiting from Egypt’s expertise in the fields of petroleum and mineral resources.
