CAIRO – 1 July 2019: Telecom Egypt (WE) announced Monday that it increased the capacity of packages offered to customers in line with the new speeds and quality of internet services.

The company said in a statement that the new increase was due to the continued hike in usage rates resulting from increased speed.

It added that it has taken care of the design of the new packages to provide the customer with a commercial advantage so that the customer gets the new speeds at a lower price compared to current prices.

According to the statement, the company carried out a quantum leap in new high-speed internet services in Egypt, within the framework of a large project to develop the capabilities of networks and raise the quality of internet services.

During the first phase of the project, which ended in June 2019, the company raised the maximum number of high-speed internet packages to 30 megabits per second instead of 5 megabits per second for two months without any increase in price. The company began working on new packages as of July 1, 2019.

The statement said that Telecom Egypt has developed an integrated plan of action for the development of infrastructure at the level of all governorates of the republic through the development and expansion of the international network, the main network, messaging networks and the poor network.

The plan was also based on the strong deployment of MSAN and fiber-optic cables, in parallel with the gradual upgrade of the terrestrial network for all existing customers, the statement said.

Telecom Egypt launched an intensive work plan to compress the time of implementation of the infrastructure development and network improvement project for 2 years instead of 4 years, to be completed in 2020.

The company invested about LE 17 billion for 2019 and 2020, in addition to investments already pumped and estimated at LE 26 billion during the past 5 years, where total investments pumped since 2014 amount to LE 43 billion, according to the statement.

Telecom Egypt announced its consolidated profits during the first quarter of 2019 on a year-on-year basis, doubling its net profit to LE 1.6 billion, with a margin of 27 percent.
