CAIRO – 25 April 2018: Egypt's El Sewedy Electric company was selected for a $20 million international tender of the rural electrification project in Aftout El-Chargui zone in Mauritania, said Mauritanian government officials, state news agency MENA reported on Wednesday.

The project in financed by the World Bank and the Islamic Development Bank and is expected to provide 30 Mauritanian zones with electricity.

El Sewedy Electric Company, formerly known as El Sewedy Cables, is an Egyptian company engaged in the manufacture of integrated cables and electric products.

It has 30 production facilities located in 14 countries, and exports its products to more than 110 countries worldwide.

In March, the company announced that its subsidiary, Egytech Elsewedy, signed a contract with the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) for LE 225 million to connect power transformers at the plant in Imbaba with El-Maamadya’s plant on a turnkey basis.

Another subsidiary, ELSEWEDY ELECTRIC for Trade & Distribution, signed in March a new engineering, procurement and construction contract for the New Administrative Capital's 500 kilovolt substation worth LE 1.24 billion.

Elsewedy Electric recoded net profit of LE 6.48 billion ($366.63 million) in 2017, compared to LE 3.9 billion in 2016.
