EGX rebounds on Arab buying, benchmark gains 0.8%

CAIRO – 4 May 2017: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) indexes ended on a positive note Thursday, boosted by Arab traders’ purchases.

The benchmark EGX30 index went up 0.84 percent, closing at 12,710 points. CIB, the heaviest weight on the gauge, increased 0.72 percent to end at 75.5 EGP per share ($4.16).

The small and mid-cap enterprises index (EGX70) rose 1.04 percent, to hit 592 points at close. The all-embracing EGX100 index also climbed 1.07 percent, ending at 1,360 points.

Market capitalization gained around 4.2 billion EGP ($231.5 million) totaling 659.4 billion EGP. Market turnover recorded 745.9 million EGP.
