CAIRO – 14 March 2018: Some 3,195 national projects have been executed in the last four years, costing LE 667 billion, presidential aide for national and strategic projects Ibrahim Mahlab said Wednesday.

He added that works are currently underway to finish 1,229 projects, with a cost of LE 1.5 trillion, bringing the total national projects to 4,424 projects.

This came during a conference on national projects held in Assuit University on Wednesday.

Mahlab said that among the important infrastructure projects come the Rod el Farag axis, Suez Canal tunnels and the development of Suez Canal axis.

He said that a national road network has been established with a total of 7,000 kilometers, saying that roads are vital for the development process.

Mahlab further said that President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi is prioritizing the development of all governorates and the establishment of mega projects to help in the development process.

On Monday, President Sisi has visited the Rod el Farag axis, which will help solve Egypt’s traffic problem.

It will be the first road in West Cairo to connect the ring road with the regional road, and the Qattara lowlands with the Northern Coast. About 85 percent of the project’s second phase has been completed.

Since he came to office in 2014, Sisi has announced many mega projects to help accelerate the development process.
