Sisi orders to provide daily workers with insurance in 15 days

CAIRO – 1 March 2018: President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi ordered, during the inauguration of the first phase of the new city of Alamein, to finish the procedures of the insurance policies for temporary and seasonal workers "daily workers" within 15 days.

Sisi further called on the Armed Forces Engineering Authority, and the Ministry of Housing to obligate the companies working with them to provide their temporary employees with insurance within 15 days.

Sisi added that some companies asked him to hire workers from abroad to work in national projects, but he refused.

Prime Minister Sherif Ismail affirmed that Aman insurance certificate for temporary employment has no procedures or administrative documents, adding that it is worth LE 500 and can be doubled until it reaches LE 2500.

Ismail clarified that Aman certificate’s monthly installment starts from LE 4 and its highest monthly installment is LE 20 with a benefit period of 5 years or 10 years.

Aman certificate will be issued this year with a 16 percent interest rate from banks.

The government will sign a protocol next week with the National Bank of Egypt, Banque Misr, Banque du Caire, the Agriculture Bank and Misr Insurance Company to apply the insurance system, according to the prime minister.

President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi inaugurated Thursday the first phase of the New Alamein City.



The first phase of New Alamein will include the inauguration of an eco-city. New Alamein City also will include a national university, comprising of a number of applied science faculties, an opera house, a library and a museum.

Sisi is also set to inaugurate a number of projects via video conference in the upcoming period.

The city is located on an area of 48,000 feddans (49,824 acres) and is expected to be inhabited by more than 400,000 citizens.

On February 8, President Sisi ordered the Egyptian government to protect seasonal labor’s rights and to search for alternatives that provide them with health insurance, clarifying that Egypt will pass a law for seasonal labor according to their needs.
