CAIRO - 23 February 2018: Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev attaches special importance to boosting relations with Egypt in light of the good ties binding the two countries’ presidents and peoples, Azerbaijani Minister of Economy Shahin Mustafayev said.

In statements to MENA ahead of leaving Cairo Thursday night, Mustafayev lauded President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s statements during their meeting when he said “Egypt’s doors are open to Azerbaijan.”

The coming few months will witness more meetings between Egyptian and Azerbaijani businessmen to discuss cooperation in many fields, including industry, tourism, health and education, he added.

The Azerbaijani minister also underscored the importance of bolstering bilateral cooperation in the oil sector.

Asked about tourism, Mustafayev called for a resumption of direct flights between Cairo and Baku, which were operated for just a short period.

Such a move will help increase the number of Azerbaijani tourists in Egypt, he said.

Meanwhile, the Azerbaijani minister stressed Baku’s full support for Cairo in its ongoing efforts to combat terrorism.
