Egypt invests LE 6B in New Cairo’s road projects

CAIRO – 1 February 2018: The Housing Minister Mostafa Madbouli said that the total investments in New Cairo’s road projects recorded LE 5.65 billion, according to official statement on Thursday.

Madbouli clarified that LE 1.65 billion of fiscal year 2017/2018 budget were spent on roads, referring that LE 4 billion for 2018/2019 budget stands for road investments.

Madbouli added that the ministry is working on developing the road network of the main axes, residential communities and improving the efficiency of all the roads of the service centers in cities.

Chairman of development authority of New Cairo city Mustafa Fahmy said that number of road projects are being implemented, such as the development and upgrading of the 90th axis, the modification of intersections on the axis, the modification of the lighting network, the coordination of the central island with the upgrading of the current irrigation network, with a budget of LE 108 million.

Fahmy added that the project of upgrading the axis of the 90 southern, the adjustment of intersections on the axis, the lighting network, and coordinate the work of the central island with the efficiency of the current irrigation network, cost LE 78 million.

The New Urban Communities Authority (NUCA) announced earlier that it is working on increasing its total investments by LE 10 billion to LE 40 million, compared to LE 30 billion by the end of fiscal year 2017/2018.
