CAIRO – 13 December 2017: Minister of Trade and Industry Tarek Qabil revealed that signing barter deals between Egypt and Argentina are currently being probed through which Egypt would provide the Argentine market with the new Egyptian medicine that treats Hepatitis C which has been internationally sanctioned.

In return, Egypt will receive Argentine products with the same value of the drug to be exported to Argentina, the minister said in a statement released by the ministry on Wednesday.

The Leo Messi Foundation (Fundación Leo Messi) has donated 3,000 dozes of the Egyptian medication in Argentina and 2,000 in other countries which has proven its success in recovery, he said.

The minister said that he discussed with Argentine Vice President Gabriela Michetti, on the sidelines of the 11th ministerial conference of the World Trade Organization, means of enhancing economic cooperation, increasing trade and joint investments in the near future.

The meeting covered the importance of facilitating trade between the two countries and holding a meeting of the joint committee during the first half of next year in Cairo, he pointed out.

He stressed the Egyptian government's appreciation of Argentina's ratification of the free trade agreement between Egypt and the Mercosur
bloc which will give a strong push to Egypt's trade relations with the member states, particularly Argentina
