BENI SUEF- 13 September 2017: The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) will launch 2,300 food production projects to cover about 1,300 villages across Beni Suef governorate.

This announcement came during a meeting between Beni Suef Governor Sherif Habib and a FAO delegation that included Representative of FAO in Egypt Hussein Gadain, Head of the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation Felice Longobardi, Assistant Director General of FAO's Regional Office for the Near East and North Africa Ould Ahmed Abdessalam.

The projects are expected to provide 23,000 job opportunities to residents of Egypt's countryside.

Habib pointed out that improving living standards in the countryside is a top priority for the Egyptian Government.

FAO's initiative, which began in December 2012 in five Upper Egypt governorates, seeks to enhance food production, improve food security, and provide job opportunities.
