EGX ends Wednesday on mixed note, market cap. gains LE113.95M

CAIRO – 19 October 2022: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) showed mixed performance during Wednesday’s session, adding around LE 113.95 million to the market capitalization, amid Egyptian and Arab purchases.

 

The benchmark EGX30 inched down 0.07 percent, or 7.22 points, to end at 10,156.34 points.

 

The small and mid-cap index EGX 70 declined 0.37 percent, or 8.22 points, to close at 2,206.7 points, and the broader index EGX 100 dropped 0.36 percent, or 11.49 points, at 3,154.22 points.

 

On the other hand, the equally weighted index EGX 50 inched up 0.09 percent, or 1.78 points, to end at 1,940.95 points.

 

Market capitalization gained around LE 113.95 million, recording LE 706.46 billion, compared to LE 706.35 billion in Tuesday’s session.

 

The trading volume reached 503.29 million shares, traded through 49,794 transactions, with a turnover of LE 1.28 billion.

 

Foreign investors were net sellers at LE 156.18 million, while Egyptian and Arab investors were net buyers at LE 132.74 million, and LE 23.44 million, respectively.

 

Egyptian and foreign individuals were net buyers at LE 10.16 million, and LE 10.41 million, respectively, while Arab individuals were net sellers at LE 7.05 million.

 

Egyptian and Arab organizations bought at LE 122.58 million, and LE 30.49 million, respectively, while foreign organizations sold at LE 166.59 million.

 

Nasr Company for Civil Works, Medical Packaging Company, and Egyptian Financial & Industrial were top gainers of the session at 19.98 percent, 12.18 percent and 11.10 percent, respectively.

 

Meanwhile, Arabian Cement Company, Misr Hotels, and Iron and Steel for Mines and Quarries were top losers of the session by 12.07 percent, 11.25 percent, and 9.12 percent, respectively.

 

On Tuesday, EGX ended the session in the green zone, as: EGX30 increased 0.15 percent, EGX 50 rose 0.55 percent, EGX 70 hiked 0.85 percent, and EGX 100 climbed 0.58 percent.
