CAIRO - 17 October 2022: Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Tarek El-Molla, affirmed Egypt's commitment and readiness to immediately pump natural gas to Lebanon as soon as the procedures related to the start of exporting and receiving Egyptian gas on Lebanese territory are completed.

This came during a meeting with the Minister of Petroleum, Walid Fayyad, the Lebanese Minister of Energy and Water, who is currently visiting Cairo, according to a statement from the Ministry of Petroleum, Monday.

In June, Egypt, Lebanon and Syria signed an agreement to transport 650 million cubic meters of natural gas.

The agreement includes the transportation of natural gas from Egypt to Lebanon via Syria.

This came after the Egyptian Minister of Petroleum announced last February the export of natural gas from Egypt to Lebanon through the Arab Gas Pipeline during the following period.

Egypt, Lebanon and Syria also sought to obtain the approval of the World Bank to finance the value of the exported gas, in addition to excluding Egypt from the Caesar sanctions imposed on Syria.

According to the statement, El-Molla affirmed, during the meeting, Egypt's constant readiness to provide all aspects of support, assistance and expertise to the Lebanese brothers in various petroleum activities within the framework of the strong relations and ties that unite the two countries, and the continuous support of the political leadership for relations with sisterly Lebanon.

The Lebanese Minister of Energy directed his thanks and appreciation to the Egyptian state, leadership and people, for its always supportive stance for the Lebanese state, especially at this important stage.
