Egypt's food exports rise to $1.4B in first quarter of 2022 - report

CAIRO - 8 June 2022: The Food Export Council said exports of the Egyptian food industry increased by 3 percent in the first quarter of 2022, recording $1.412 billion against $1.368 billion in the corresponding period in 2021.
 
In a monthly report issued on Wednesday, the council pointed out that Arab countries topped the list of international groups importing food industry products from Egypt.
 
Exports to the Arab markets amounted to $748 million in the first quarter of 2022, representing 53 percent of the total food exports, according to the report.
 
The European Union came second in the list with a value of $249 million, representing 18 percent of Egypt's total food exports.
 
It was followed by non-Arab African countries with the value of food imported from Egypt amounting to $101 million, representing 7 percent of the total.
 
The value of food exports to the US stood at $88 million, representing 6 percent of Egypt's total exports.
 
The rest of the international groups recorded $226 million worth of food imports from Egypt during the same period, representing 16 percent of the total Egyptian food exports during the aforementioned period.
