CAIRO - 23 May 2022: Minister of Planning and Economic Development Hala al-Said stated Sunday that a sustainable development plan that is gender sensitive has been prepared.

In addition, a mechanism is being formulated to fund developmental projects in governorates by identifying developmental gaps in each, Said revealed.

That was during an event held by the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development on alternative financing to sustainable development.

The minister pointed out that the global developmental funding gap was estimated at $3.5-7 trillion; however, in the aftermath of the COVID-19 and Russia-Ukraine War, the figure spiked by now $2.5 trillion.

In addition to such funding gap, Egypt has an overpopulation crisis, the planning minister pointed out.

Minister Said clarified that reports suggest that Egypt focus on infrastructure (regular and technological), making laborers more employable, raising reliance on ICT skills, and empowering women, youth and the disabled.

The minister underscored that the mission of The Sovereign Fund of Egypt (TSFE) is to crowd in the private sector in developmental plans, which is the process that is going well until present. Said underlined that remarkable investments and partnerships were sealed over the past two years in spite of the economic downturn.
