CAIRO - 17 May 2022: The Egyptian exports of garments increased by 47 percent in January-March in 2022 to record $641 million in comparison to $435 million  during the same period in 2021.

In a statement on Tuesday, Chairperson of the Readymade Garments Export Council of Egypt (RMGEC) Mary Lewis said that the US tops the list of countries importing from Egypt with $379 million  during the first quarter of 2022.

The clothes exports increased by 37 percent in the Arab countries during the first quarter of 2022 to record $67 million, she said.

Lewis asserted that the council is working for opening new markets in all the countries to increase the volume of exports especially to the Arab countries in light of the Russian-Ukrainian crisis which negatively affects the exports of the garments sector.
