CAIRO - 12 May 2022: Trade and Industry Minister and CEO of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise Development Agency (MSMEDA) Nevine Gameaa lauded the continuing cooperation between the agency and different international donors, notably the European Union (EU) and the European Investment Bank (EIB) that finance a number of development projects in various governorates.

Gameaa's remarks came after a delegation from the EU and EIB visited three executed projects in Alexandria, as part of the second phase of the social development program launched in June 2020 in cooperation with the International Cooperation Ministry. The program covers the governorates of Alexandria, Port Said, Giza, Assiut, Menoufia and Sharqia.

The delegation was led by EU Ambassador in Cairo Christian Berger, EIB Regional Representative in Egypt Alfredo Abad and a number of MSMEDA representatives.

On his part, the head of the agency's Central Sector for Community and Human Development, Khaled Fatehi, said the MSMEDA implemented a host of projects in the six governorates to provide basic services that include the establishment of drinking water and sewage networks, paving roads and narrow streets, renovating schools, health units and youth centers, and erecting markets for street vendors.

Since July 2014 till March 2022, the MSMEDA allocated funding worth EGP 1.5 billion for implementing 42,000 micro and small projects in Alexandria. Those projects provided nearly 85,000 job opportunities.
