Egypt's exports to Sudan up 65.7% in 2021

CAIRO - 31 March 2022: Egypt's exports to Sudan increased to reach $826.8 million in 2021 compared to $498.9 million in 2020, with an increase of 65.7 percent, according to data released by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) on Wednesday.

CAPMAS said in a statement that the trade exchange between the two countries increased to hit $1.2 billion in 2021 compared to $711.9 million in 2020 with a hike of 63.5 percent.

Plastics and its derivatives, sugar, products of grain and fertilizers topped Egypt's exports to Sudan in 2021 while Egypt imported from Sudan in 2021 livestock, grins, cotton and meat.

While, the value of remittances from Egyptians working in Sudan recorded $17 million during the fiscal year of 2019/2020, compared to $32.4 million in the fiscal year 2018/19 fiscal year, a decrease of 47.5 percent.

The remittances of Sudanese people working in Egypt amounted to $878,000 during the fiscal year of 2019/2020, compared to %387,000 during the fiscal year of 2018/2019, an increase of 126.9 percent.

The number of Egyptians residing in Sudan had reached 150,400 by the end of 2020.
