ITIDA head: IT sector plays key role in attracting French investments

CAIRO - 24 March 2022: CEO of Egypt's Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) Amr Mahfouz said the information technology (IT) sector plays a key role in luring French investments into Egypt, which enjoys an abundance of young cadres, technical professionals and multilingualism.
 
Mahfouz made the remarks during his meeting on Thursday with a French delegation led by Regis Monfront, head of the French side in the Egyptian-French Business Council and member of the Movement of the Enterprises of France (MEDEF).
 
A number of representatives of French Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Companies working in Egypt, such as Valeo, Orange, IDEMIA, ATOS and Alstom were present during the meeting.
 
The meeting, which was held on the sidelines of Egyptian-French Business Council talks, tackled available opportunities in the fields of crowdsourcing, cross-border services, artificial intelligence, digital capacity-building and smart cities.
 
Mahfouz reviewed Egypt's outsourcing digital strategy prepared by the ITIDA and Ernst & Young Global Consulting Services.
 
He also posted the French delegation on ITIDA's new incentives to attract further investments and encourage the existing companies to expand their business.
 
On his part, MEDEF member Regis Monfront said France looks forward to establishing further business partnerships with Egypt that plays a vital part in the growing of the IT industry in the Middle East and North Africa.
 
Monfront lauded the economic reforms carried out by the Egyptian government to enhance the business environment.
