In a statement, the council underlined the furniture sector is one of the industrial sectors that witness an increasing growth, pointing out the sector includes between 100,000 and 120,000 industrial entities, 35 percent of which are located in Damietta governorate that occupies 75 percent of the sector's exports.

About one million workers are working in this sector, 440,000 of whom are direct workers and 500,000 are indirect ones.

The furniture sector includes 13 percent of Egypt's industrial labor, the statement read, adding the furniture sector contributes 0.3 percent to the GDP and 2.2 percent to the non-oil industrial GDP.
