Government discusses methods to increase energy output

CAIRO - 11 July 2017: Prime Minister Sherif Ismail discussed on Tuesday methods to increase energy output during and plans to increase subsidies in the new electricity and oil budget, estimated to be LE 330 billion ($18.43 billion).

This comes as part of prime minister’s meeting with the Ministry of Electricity.

The plan discussed is supposed to be implemented within five years starting July.

Three years have been consumed of the five-year plan.

Ismail has also met with the Minister of Supplies Ali Meselhy on Tuesday to discuss potential methods that will provide supplies for citizens with limited income.

This comes as part of the government’s ambitious plan to provide essential commodities at affordable prices through an expansion strategy applied to provide more stores.

Ismail is also keen to monitor market across the country to avoid any non-official price hikes.
