EGX ends mid-week session on mixed note amid foreign selling

CAIRO – 26 October 2021: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) ended Tuesday on mixed note, losing around LE 656.88 million of market capitalization, amid foreign selling.

  

The benchmark EGX30 increased 0.70 percent, or 78.54 points, to end at 11,256.54 points.

 

On the other hand, the equally weighted index EGX 50 dipped 2.10 percent, or 44.58 points, to end at 2,080.38 points.

 

The small and mid-cap index EGX 70 dropped 3.61 percent, or 84.59 points, to close at 2,261.34 points, and the broader index EGX decreased 2.34 percent, or 77.62 points, to close at 3,245.96 points.


 

Market capitalization lost around LE 656.88 million, recording LE 741.32 billion, compared to LE 741.98 billion in Monday’s session.

 

The trading volume reached 517.69 million shares, traded through 51,515 transactions, with a turnover of LE 1.58 billion.

 

Foreign investors were net sellers at LE 124 million, while Egyptian and Arab investors were net buyers at LE 78.84 million, and LE 45.15 million, respectively.

 

Arab and foreign individuals were net buyers at LE 16.32 million, and LE 2.38 million, respectively, while Egyptian individuals were net sellers at LE 72.7 million.

 

Egyptian and Arab organizations bought at LE 151.55 million, and LE 28.83 million, respectively, while foreign organizations sold at LE 126.38 million.

 

Fawry for Banking Technology and Electronic Payment, Sidi Kerir Petrochemicals - SIDPEC, and Arabian Cement Company were top gainers of the session at 6.78 percent, 6.55 percent and 5.19 percent, respectively.

 

Meanwhile, National Real Estate Bank for Development, International Co for Investment & Development, and Development & Engineering Consultants were top losers of the session by 19.99 percent, 19.98 percent, and 19.97 percent, respectively.

 

EGX ended Monday in red as: EGX30 inched down 0.07 percent, EGX 50 dipped 3.09 percent, EGX 70 dropped 3.60 percent, and EGX100 decreased 2.80 percent.
