CBE announces Thursday, October 21 official holiday on the occasion of Al-Mawled al-Nabawi

CAIRO – 15 October 2021:  The Central Bank of Egypt, announced Friday that Thursday, October 21 will be off as official holiday on the occasion of the Prophet’s birthday, and that work will be resumed Sunday morning, October 24.

President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi wished the Egyptian Muslim communities abroad a happy and blessed Mawlid al-Nabawi, the celebration of Prophet Muhammad’s birthday anniversary, the state-owned news agency MENA reported.

President Sisi's cables of best wishes were posted on their social media pages of the Egyptian communities on Friday.

Millions of Muslims in Egypt and many other countries all around the world are already preparing to celebrate it, as the day will be full of wonderful activities and religious rituals.

A week before the celebration, pastry shops display the traditional sweets known as “Halawat al-Mawlid”, with queues of Egyptian families buying boxes of the sweets and shops decorated with the Mawlid doll and accessories.
