CAIRO – 4 August 2021: Ministry of Finance announced that 3,000 citizens have acquired new cars as part of the presidential initiative to replace aging vehicles with new cars powered by natural gas.

The ministry explained, in a statement, Wednesday, that the deliveries were made from the beginning of April until the end of July 2021, explaining that the state's public treasury bore during this period about LE 73.3 million, the value of the green incentive.

The ministry pointed out that it is seeking, in coordination with various concerned authorities, to accelerate the pace of work on this presidential initiative during the next phase, and it is scheduled to deliver 1,700 new cars to the beneficiaries during the month of August 2021 in a way that is consistent with the country's efforts to transition to a green economy and rely more on clean energy.

In April, Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister of Egypt, handed over the first batch of new dual-fuel cars, "natural gas and gasoline", to a number of beneficiaries of the presidential initiative "replacement of obsolete vehicles to work with natural gas," which has been in production for 20 years or more.
