EGX announces Eid Al-Adha, July 23 holiday

CAIRO – 15 July 2021: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) decided that starting from Monday 19th of July till Saturday 24th of July will be a holiday at EGX for the celebration of Eid al-Adha Al Mubarak & 23rd of July.

 

A statement issued, Thursday, stated that work will resume on Sunday, July 25.

 

Eid al-Adha is the latter of the two official Islamic holidays celebrated within Islam. It honours the willingness of Ibrahim to sacrifice his son Ismail as an act of obedience to God's command. Before Ibrahim could sacrifice his son, however, Allah provided a lamb to sacrifice instead.

 

On Wednesday, the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) decided to suspend the work of all banks operating in Egypt, starting from Monday, July 19, on the occasion of Eid al-Adha.

 

The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) ended Thursday’s session on mixed note, adding around LE 1.65 billion to market capitalization, amid Arab and foreign purchases.

 

 

 

The benchmark EGX30 decreased 0.39 percent, while EGX 50 hiked 0.77 percent, EGX 70 climbed 2.18 percent, and EGX 100 jumped 1.46 percent.
