CAIRO - 12 June 2021: Minister of Trade and Industry Nevine Gamea stated Saturday in IPAs Africa Forum 1 that Egypt will raise the 50-percent discount on shipping to Africa to 60 percent.

The minister clarified that is to achieve a competitive price for Egyptian products.

“I hope that more African countries implement the AfCFTA, which went into effect in January...That will require unifying specifications and standards,” Gamea stressed.

Minister of Civil Aviation Mohamed Manar highlighted that air shipping is often used on the continent due to the lack of adequate urban roads.

Hence, the minister suggested that African states set special fees for African airways to contribute in reinforcing connectivity among African states.

Africa IPAs Forum 1 kicked off in Egypt’s Sharm El Sheikh having as slogan “Growth for Integration.” The forum is the first of its kind and is taking place on June 11-14 with the participation of ministers and chairpersons of investment promotion authorities at 34 African countries.
