Egypt unemployment rate eases to 12 percent in Q1 2017 - Reuters

CAIRO – 22 May 2021: Egypt’s sustainable development plan aims to reduce unemployment rates during the fiscal year 2021/2022 to about 7.3 percent.

 

The plan is to record a 0.2 percent decrease from the expected unemployment rate in the current fiscal year, which is about 7.5 percent.

 

In the below lines, et reviews the progress in the unemployment rates over the course of the past four years from 2018 until 2022:

 

- The actual unemployment rate during the fiscal year 18/2019 was about 7.5 percent.

 

The unemployment rate jumped during the fiscal year 19/2020 to about 9.6 percent.

 

Inflation rates recorded a remarkable decline in 20/2021, and it is expected to record 7.5 percent.

 

The actual unemployment rate during the fourth quarter of 2020 was about 7.2 percent.

 

- The Ministry of Planning and Economic Development estimated the expected unemployment rate during the fiscal year 21/2022 at about 7.3 percent.
