CAIRO – 19 May 2021: Egypt’s Minister of Planning and Economic Development, Hala El-Saeed, discussed the economic and social development plan for the fourth year 2021-2022 within the sustainable development plan 2018-2022, during the meeting of the Financial, Economic and Investment Affairs Committee of the Senate.

 

Hala El-Saeed confirmed in front of the Senate the keenness and pride of the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development to continue cooperation and coordination with the Council, according to a press release issued, Tuesday.

 

El-Saeed explained that the development of the economic and social development plan was carried out in an unconventional way, based on an integrated vision of developing the state plan at the sectoral and macro level at the level of all state institutions, explaining that the 2021-2022 plan is the fourth and final year of the economic and social development plan.

 

The minister pointed out that the Egyptian state launched Egypt's vision 2030, which represents a long-term vision and represents the national version of the UN goals.

 

She emphasized that Egypt was one of the first countries in the world to have a national version of the international goals that corresponds to the 17 goals of the United Nations, and is also consistent with Africa's Agenda 2063, which is a living document that is constantly updated according to the changes at the local, regional and international levels.

 

She pointed to the launch of the economic reform program after the launch of Egypt's Vision 2030, as well as the changes related to unprecedented regional and international developments, and then the coronavirus pandemic, stressing that with these developments the vision is updated.

 

She indicated that the last update of the vision will take place with the Corona pandemic, and it is intended to launch the updated Egypt Vision 2030 next June.

 

El-Saeed explained that a medium-term plan is being developed and annual plans emanate from it, pointing out that no targets are set, as a follow-up report is conducted annually in April of each year, confirming the Ministry's keenness to be held accountable.

 

She indicated that when setting goals must be ambitious, as they are set in partnership with all ministries, where what attracts the economy is considered according to the growth targets to be achieved, following up that there are three important goals while being keen to achieve an economy that the citizen feels on the ground, taking into account Considering a number of balances to reach the citizen, stressing that achieving these balances is not an easy matter.
